Sofia had never seen the application.
And she had never signed it.
She looked at Javier.
“Care to explain this?”
He went rigid.
Teresa stepped backward.
“My corporate attorney reviewed this application this morning,” Sofia continued. “You used copies of my tax returns, my business credentials, and a forged signature.”
The general manager stared in disbelief.
“I never saw any loan application.”
“Because it was still in final underwriting,” Sofia replied.
Javier raised both hands.
“I can explain! The manor was drowning in debt. I knew that once the Altavista contract went through, we could pay it off before you even noticed!”
“My signature, Javier?”
Silence.
“I asked you about my forged signature.”
Teresa jumped in.
“Javier is your husband! Spouses shouldn’t be so selfish with each other!”
Sofia slowly turned toward her.
“So you knew too.”
Teresa realized too late what she had revealed.
